Fall Fashion Haul Pt. 2

This weekend I visited Lowrys Farm. It’s probably become one of my favorite places to shop in Tokyo. Not only did I have a fun time chatting with the sales associates, but I even stole some of their outfits ideas. Recently, I’ve traded some things in at H&M so that’s why my load here is a bit heavy. But, unfortunately I just realized that everything that I’ve purchased from Topshop or H&M is about 50% more expensive here. Including my winter coat with the faux fur. Import tax.. bummer.

After I finish my final exams, I’ll working on a look book and concept book. I’ll cover various themes and styles that I’ve got going on this fall. Its already coming together.. got an outlined with some staple looks including but not limited to: military, “white light”, the new collegiate, city, and country. I’ll elaborate more on those themes later. I’ve got a ton of ideas floating about for each one of them including music, interior design, ambiance, lighting, and of course fashion shots (which will come from my Fashion and Food Facebook album). So, without further adieu, here are my 2nd round of picks for fall! Viola! I hope you enjoy!

Tokyo, Fashion Capital of the World

Tokyo is simply amazing. It’s unbelievable and inconcievably fashion forward. Today I went shopping in Shinjuku, a ward or district in Tokyo. Shinjuku isn’t even considered to be the hot bed of fashion compared to Harajuku. But, I really like the style in Shinjuku because its what the Japanese call “kirei” or “kawaii”. They’re basically referring to the “pretty” or “cute” style as opposed to less wearable, runway fashion. I have to agree - sometimes I don’t want to wear Alexander Wang and look like 90’s Nirvana grunge. And other times I’m not so keen to the chic yet quirky Miu Miu silk printed blouses with lipsticks or cats. Sometimes I just want to be comfy and cute! So here are some laid back but very trendy pieces.

I had a great time taking pictures on my iphone so that I could show you the merchandise in Shinjuku. All of the pieces I took pictures of I absolutely wanted (my favorite picks) but they were really really expensive so I only got a few pieces. And I got a bunch of great stuff at Lowry’s Farm (my new favorite store) that I don’t have pictures of just yet. That, I’ll save for another Fall Fashion Haul - pt. 2. I’m really excited to show you guys!

Viola! All of my pictures! Stay tuned to see what I picked up during my shopping extravaganza. I’m working on creating a look book for fall. My very own!

Fall Fashion Haul

The best part about summer is that fall follows. Every fashion blogger knows that come September, Vogue magazine begins to resemble a phonebook. It’s that wonderful, breath-taking time of the year where Vogue and Elle hit the streets harder than Brazilian weight-loss pills behind the curtains at runway. Can’t wait to pick up a copy of both (the Elle Paris is literally next door to my new work in Omotesando).

I’m excited for fall - for all of its warm tones, heavy set prints, and quilted jackets. I’m looking forward to what Vena Cava, Cynthia Vincent, Miu Miu, and Parisan powerhouse Chloé, have in store. I’ve absolutely adored Chloé and her little one, See by Chloé in the past fall seasons.

See by Chloé Fall Preview. Simple, elegant, and oh so french.

Anyways, come see what I picked up today in Tokyo’s Harajuku district. This season I’m obsessed with burnt red-orange tints, that’s so 70’s chiffon maxi dresses, suede high waisted shorts, gray knit leggings, plaid plaid plaid, floppy hats, winged oxford wedges, fur collars, the weight of herringbone coats, and lots of texture. Lots.

Did I mention that I’m completely new to this? Yeah and I damaged my camera so please bear with me. But, I’m sure I didn’t have to note my amateur-status. It’s pretty obvi. Alright….. here we go!

Hate it? Love it? Let me know what you want to see for fall!

My first, Wilfred.

Today I revisited an old boyfriend. Wilfred. It’s a running joke around Aritzia that Wilfred is the most loyal boyfriend a girl could have. He’s always in season, convenient and affordable to be with, and trendy. Wilfred can cure any rainy day, a “I hate my outfit” at the mall mishap, and last minute rendezvous with girlfriends or boyfriend(s). Wilfred has always had my back through the camel cacoon coat season, surplus army jacket trend, and even wool faux-fur collar coat phase. He knows how to make a girl feel great, beautiful, and stylish. Come summer, Wilfred can surprise you with light weight crepe shorts, oversized silk blouses, and “feel like a million dollar” printed dresses. He is innovative and quick on his feet by coming out with alter-egos like Le Fou, Little Moon, and Wilfred Free. And even on drab Sundays, Wilfred knows how to spice things up with his bright, striped, and polka-dotted personality.

Here’s me paying homage to Wilfred through the ages. I’ve been loyal to Wilfred, one of Artizia’s quintessential house labels since 2007. Although we’ve had a few sour moments, especially when he decided to be frivolous and expensive to hang out with, I’ve come to cherish all the moments we’ve spent together. We’ve gone through breakups, first dates, weddings, graduations, sunny days at the beach, and chilly foggy nights in San Francisco together. I adore you Wilfred. Always clever, always chic, and always fun. You will always be my first true love. I’m sad to see us part but I hope one day you can move to Tokyo so that we don’t have to do this long distance. Xoxo. - Olive.
